Addiction Medicine Specialist Dr David Jacka to present at APP2018

Monash Health addiction medicine specialist and former drug treatment specialist with the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr David Jacka will present to delegates on harm minimisation on Sunday 6 May.

Dr Jacka will explore the universality of pleasure seeking and its relation to substance addiction, drawing on his vast professional experience from a national and international perspective.

His fellow workshop presenters include the University of South Australia’s Dr Jacinta Johnson, Uniting Medically Supervised Injection Centre’s Clinical Nurse Consultant William Wood and Pharmacy Guild National Councillor and workshop facilitator Angelo Pricolo.

They will cover topics including the progress of medically supervised injecting rooms and safe injecting techniques, the introduction of long acting partial opioid agonists, navigating different dose forms of naloxone and minimising harm with prescription opioids.

The workshop will allow delegates to review, revise and renovate their knowledge in understanding and treating substance addiction to reduce any negative impact.
