What is the Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference & Trade Exhibition (APP)?

APP is The Pharmacy Guild of Australia’s annual national conference and the largest pharmacy conference and trade show in Australia. APP offers attendees a comprehensive four-day educational program, exciting social activities and a trade exhibition showcasing the latest products, services and industry information.

When and where is the conference and trade exhibition being held?

The conference and trade exhibition will be held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre (GCCEC).

Conference sessions and the trade exhibition are held from Thursday 19 March until Sunday 22 March 2020.

How many trade exhibition stands will be on display?

There will be over 400 trade stands showcasing the latest industry products and services.

Can you tell me if a specific company is exhibiting?

Please visit the Exhibitor Listing page, which is regularly updated as new trade exhibition bookings are received.

Who can attend?

Admission to conference sessions is restricted to professional persons working within the pharmacy industry. If you wish to bring a guest or your family (including children) to view the trade exhibition they will need to be admitted as a visitor and will be required to wear a visitor name badge, which can be collected from the Registration Desk onsite.

Can I bring extra guests to the social events?

Yes, extra tickets to both the Welcome Reception and the APP Street Party can be purchased online with your registration. Additional Welcome Reception tickets can be purchased for $85 each and additional Street Party tickets for $110 each (the Street Party ticket price has been reduced to make it more affordable for partners and guests to attend with delegates).

Will I be eligible to receive Continuing Professional Development points (CPD)?

Yes. Most conference sessions will be eligible for CPD points. A CPD Accreditation & Credits Summary will be provided prior to the conference which will outline how many credits have been allocated to each session. If you wish to record your CPD credits using GuildEd, you can register for a GuildEd account at www.guilded.guild.org.au.

Am I eligible to claim the Rural Continuing Professional Development (CPE) Allowance?

The CPE Allowance provides financial support to assist pharmacists from rural and remote areas to access CPD and Professional Development activities. Click here for more information and find out if you are eligible. The Rural Intern Training Allowance (RITA) provides financial support to assist intern pharmacists from rural and remote areas to attend compulsory intern training program activities. Click here for more information and find out if you are eligible.

Registration

What is the cut-off date for registrations?

Online Registrations will be accepted until 5pm Tuesday 17 March 2020. After this time, registrations will be available onsite at the Gold Coast Convention Centre.

Can I register onsite?

Yes, onsite registrations will be accepted, but these will attract a $50 late fee.

What should I do if I don’t receive any confirmation or receipt?

A confirmation of registration and tax invoice will be issued to your email address on submission of registration. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please check your ‘junk’ or ‘spam’ folders and check that the email address you provided when registering is correct. If a confirmation has not been received please contact the Events Division of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland Branch on 07 3831 3788 or email events@qldguild.org.au.

Can you check my registration?

Yes. You can contact the Events Division of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia, Queensland Branch on 07 3831 3788 or email events@qldguild.org.au to check if your registration has been submitted successfully.

Are conference related costs tax deductible?

This depends on individual circumstances. Please contact your tax professional to discuss this.

Will you be sending my name badge and function tickets to me before the conference?

No, your name badge and function tickets will be available for collection from the Registration Desk onsite on arrival at the conference.

I need to cancel. Is there a cancellation/refund policy?

All cancellations and requests for registration refunds must be made in writing to events@qldguild.org.au. Cancellations made before 1 February 2019 will receive a refund less a $100.00 per person administration fee. Refunds will NOT be processed for cancellations after 1 February 2019, however substitute delegates will be accepted as long as we are notified by email by midnight Tuesday 5 March 2019. No refunds will be issued until after the conference. No refunds will be given for non-attendance at the conference. Accommodation and airline cancellations are at the discretion of the individual organisations concerned.

Accommodation & Travel

Do you have special accommodation rates?

Yes. Special hotel rates are available for visitors and exhibitors. Please visit our Accommodation page for more information.

Are shuttle bus transfers available to and from APP accommodation venues?

All APP accommodation venues are in walking distance from the GCCEC. A shuttle service from all accommodation venues will be offered to and from the APP Street Party on Saturday 21 March 2020 from 6:30pm – 7:30pm and then from 10:00pm – 12:30am.

Is there parking at the conference?

Car parking is available for delegates at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre at a cost of $12.00 per day. The entrance to the car park is off the Gold Coast Highway.

General

What is the climate like?

Climate

The Gold Coast’s climate is sub-tropical with 287 days of sunshine annually. The temperature in March ranges from 19°C to 24°C.

 

Are child-minding facilities available?

No. If you require babysitting services please arrange this with your hotel concierge.

Is there a cloakroom available?

A small cloakroom is available onsite. Delegates requiring storage of luggage after checkout should contact their respective hotel concierges.

Is wireless internet available at the Gold Coast Convention Centre?

Yes, there is free wi-fi available throughout the centre.

What is the dress code for the conference?

Conference sessions – smart casual

Welcome Reception – smart casual or business

APP Street Party – cocktail

Is there public transport available to the conference?

Yes. Local buses, taxis and a light rail (tram) operate regular services to all major attractions, hotels and shopping centres on the Gold Coast, including GCCEC.

Surfside Buslines service the Gold Coast 24 hours a day at four to five minute intervals during peak periods. Surfside also transports visitors to all Gold Coast theme parks.
