Linda Burney

Linda Burney is a Wiradjuri woman who became one of the first Aboriginal graduates from Mitchell College of Advanced Education (now Charles Sturt University) in 1978. Beginning her career as a teacher, she went on to shape Aboriginal education policy through the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. Linda later served as Deputy Director‑General and Director‑General of the NSW Department of Aboriginal Affairs and held senior roles across several state bodies. Elected to the NSW Parliament in 2003 and the House of Representatives in 2016, she became Minister for Indigenous Australians in 2022. She now chairs the Pharmacy Guild’s First Nations Pharmacy Network.
